“For it was not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it, nor is it one who hates me who has lifted himself up against me; Then I could hide from him. But it was you, a man, my equal, My companion and my friend. We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in the crowd” (Psalm 55:12-14).
The only one we can trust completely is God, because He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. But people can and do change everyday.
Be very careful as to whom you give your trust. Those may be the very ones who will stab you in the back.
Many great leaders have been stabbed in the back by the people who were the closest to them. Take for example Jesus Christ Himself, who was betrayed by none other than the treasure of the group. Malcom X was betrayed and killed by his own body guards, the very ones entrusted with his well-being and safety.
The Bible repeatedly and consistently warns against trusting in friends and even loved ones. People change! Sometimes we think we know someone all too well, only to discover that we didn’t know them nearly as well as we thought.
Trust only God entirely. Trust everyone else in degrees, but never completely. As an individual earns more of your trust you may increase the level of your trust.
If you trust anyone 100% you are setting yourself up for unnecessary hurt and disappointment.
