Rom 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
There are three very positive purposes for suffering which are: We are able to identify with Christ’s suffering, and secondly, suffering is temporary and will not last forever, and is designed to bring out the best in us.
