You might be asking the question right now, What is that thing? Well, I’m glad you asked. “That thing” is a habit or sin that you cannot seem to break, and you have been struggling and fighting with this thing longer than you care to remember.

Your spiritual life is stuck in limbo because of “that thing.” And you cannot grow spiritually like you want to, and sometimes it is even difficult to pray or read the Bible.
Your friends and brothers and sisters in the church have no idea of “that thing” that you are tormented with. They look at you, they hear you speak and preach and sing and assume that you are a powerful man or woman of God, but little do they know that you are struggling with “that thing.” It is your skeleton in the closet that only you or one or two closest friends know about.
You are actually miserable spiritually.
So how do you deal with this mountain of an issue? First, you must realize that, “that thing” is bigger than you, and that you cannot defeat this problem on your own or through your own power. You must call on the power that is higher than you, and that is none other than God through Jesus Christ.
Say to the Lord, My Father, this is too much for me. I cannot fight this alone, and then let the Lord have this awful burden, and watch God change your circumstance.
The writer of the book of Hebrews put it this way:
Therefore we also , since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses , let us lay aside every weight , and the sin which so easily ensnares us , and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

(Hebrews 12:1)
