DO NOT TRUST IN A FRIEND

“Keep your enemies close, but keep your friends even closer.”

For it was not my enemy who reproaches me; then I could bear it, nor was it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; then I could hide from him. But it was you, a man my equal, my companion and my acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in the crowd
(Psalm 55:12-14).

The Bible, in several passages of scripture warns us against putting too much faith in friends. In fact, in one Scripture, the Word of God clearly says, “Do not trust in a friend; do not put your confidence in a friend” (Micah 7:5). Unfortunately, and more often than not, we make the costly mistake of putting all our hope and trust in that special someone, or that dear friend, only to be disappointed or heartbroken.

That closest friend-the one you never imagined in your wildest dreams would ever betray you or stab you in the back, did just that! How could they do that to me? What happened? You ask yourself as tears of hurt and anger stream down your face. I thought he (she) was my friend. The Word of God gives specific warnings about putting too much faith in friends. The Bible clearly warns us not to trust in man, because man can and will fail us, but God will never fail. Jeremiah 17:5 says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man.”

Therefore, my advice to you is simply this: DO NOT TRUST ANYONE 100%, NOT EVEN YOUR SPOUSE, BUT TRUST EVERYONE IN DEGREES! The more the person earns your confidence, the more you can allow yourself to trust them. The less they earn your trust, the less you trust them. It’s as simple as that. You will save youself much pain and hurt if you employ this rule that I am suggesting. Remember, people change! They don’t stay the same. Only God stays the same and is changeless-unlike us humans. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord,”

Can you count the times that you have been disappointed, betrayed or stabbed in the back by a friend? YOU CAN  ONLY TRUST GOD 100%

  1. Powerful!! and so true. How many of us have been repeatedly stabbed in the back by people that we trusted. You are so right. God is the Only one 100% Trustworthy!

  2. By trusting others, we stop the flow of our blessing without knowing why–not realizing we are Blessed by the choices we make. If we obey God, He blesses us, if we disobey God we hurt ourselves.

    • We are not always blessed by the choices we make my sister. We are only blessed when our choices line up with God’s will. You may want to read Deuteronomy 30:15-19 and Deuteronomy 28. May God bless you.
