God corrects and chastises His children sometimes by causing them to go through trials, temptations, suffering, etc. Read what the psalmist said about trials and suffering: “For You God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net; You laid affliction on our backs.You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; But You brought us out to rich fulfillment” (Psalm 66:10-12).
God chastises His people for two very important reasons: To draw them closer to Him and to make them more productive for His service. John 15:2 confirms this assertion: “Every branch that bears fruit He prunes, (to cut off some of the branches of a tree or bush) so that it will grow better) that it may bear more fruit.”
